Season Tours
See Season Fair through the perspectives of curators, writers, collectors, and arts leaders with deep ties to Detroit and the broader contemporary art field. Season Tours are intimate, guided walks through the fair designed to encourage close looking, conversation, and different ways of engaging with the work on view.
Each tour offers a distinct encounter with the fair, shaped by the guide’s own curatorial, critical, or collecting practice.
Tours are 60 minutes and limited to 12 guests. Registration is $85 per person and includes admission to Season Fair for the day of your tour. Advance registration is required.
Please check in at the Season Fair front desk 15–20 minutes before your scheduled tour. Tours begin promptly and cannot be held for late arrivals. All tour registrations are final and nonrefundable.
Tours involve walking and standing throughout the fair. Access to Detroit Presents at Aleo requires traversing one flight of stairs.

Katy Kim

Katy Kim is an independent curator and writer. Most recently, Kim was the Jeanne and Ralph Graham Curatorial Fellow at Cranbrook Art Museum. During that period, Kim curated A Dreaming Hour: Akea Brionne (Summer 2026), the first solo museum exhibition on the contemporary lens and fiber artist, and Labyrinth / Laboratory (Spring 2026), a permanent exhibition highlighting significant Cranbrook Academy of Art alumni, among others. Selected independent exhibitions include One Time at a Day: Daniel Ribar (July 2026) at Middle Gray in Detroit, MI, supported by an NFL Foundation Grant, as well as MyHeart Beats For Only You: Rosa Sittig-Bell (November 2025). Her writing appears in BOMB Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, and Sixty Inches from Center.
Ashara Ekundayo

Ashara Ekundayo is a queer, Black feminist interdisciplinary independent curator of contemporary art, visual maker, cultural theologian, arts organizer, and consultant whose creative practice is rooted in joy-informed pedagogies and the study, creation and maintenance of Black archives. In the tradition of critical artistic action and dynamic imagination, she also conjures collaborative site-responsive ceremony and utilizes artist-based strategies such as photography, screenprinting, zine-making, installation, and altar-making to illuminate the specific expertise of Black womxn of the African Diaspora. Her work explores healing, memory, space, and place and she has worked with Black and Brown communities across borders in support of issues of land, access, and self-determination. She is the Founder, Curator/Executive Creative Director at Artist As First Responder and Principal at AECreative Consulting Partners, LLC. Her latest endeavor, PS_Detroit (Projection Site Detroit) is a trans-local archival and cultural infrastructure portal that anchors and expands the radical creative lineages of Black organizing and experimental production in Detroit.
Julie Rothstein

Julie Rothstein is an art advisor who works with private collectors on contemporary art acquisitions. She chairs the Friends of Modern & Contemporary Art at the Detroit Institute of Arts and serves on the Board of Directors of the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.
Tara Akitt

Tara Akitt is Senior Director at Library Street Collective, the Downtown Detroit gallery that's been shaping the city's contemporary art scene since 2012. She holds a Bachelor's in Art History from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and a Master's in Contemporary Art, Design and New Media Studies from Toronto's Ontario College of Art and Design.
At Library Street Collective, Akitt drives the gallery's operations and logistics, with a special focus on bold, boundary-pushing exhibitions at the Shepherd — a century-old Romanesque church reborn as a dynamic arts campus and cultural hub. Her work there spans everything from exhibition planning to day-to-day programming, helping position the Shepherd as one of Detroit's most ambitious new cultural destinations.

Kendale Jones

Kendale Jones is a Detroit-based curator, art collector, and advisor committed to supporting contemporary artists and expanding access to art. His curatorial interests center on contemporary art and narratives connected to the Black experience.
Jones serves as Membership Chair of the Founders Junior Council at the Detroit Institute of Arts and on the Emerging Patrons Council at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD). Through his curatorial and advisory work, he connects artists, collectors, and institutions while championing collecting as a form of cultural stewardship and community building.
Kat Goffnett

Kat Goffnett is the Associate Curator of Collections at Cranbrook Art Museum. They earned an MA in art history from Wayne State University with an emphasis in photography and lens-based art. Since joining the team at Cranbrook Art Museum, she has curated or co-curated a number of exhibitions including With Eyes Opened: Cranbrook Academy of Art Since 1932, Homebody, Carl Toth: Reordering Fictions, Mythic Chaos: 50 Years of Destroy All Monsters, and the current exhibition, Labyrinth/Laboratory: Selections from the Cranbrook Collection. In addition to her work at Cranbrook, Goffnett has curated Elevation: Kaneko and Contemporary Ceramics at Wayne State University with Jessika Edgar and served as juror for exhibitions throughout Michigan, including the 2025 Member’s Exhibition for the Society for Photographic Education at the Scarab Club.
Michael Stone Richards

Michael Stone-Richardsis Executive Director of the DDD Detroit Independent Study Program, where he is also Director of Studies for the Program in Critical Studies + Art Writing. A graduate of the Courtauld Institute of Art, where he studied Modern European Art and Critical Theory and wrote his doctorate on French and Czech Surrealism, Michael has previously served as Professor of Visual Studies + Critical Practice at the CCS; as Head of Critical Studies and Dean of Programs and Partnerships at Cranbrook Academy; and taught in Art History and Comparative Literature at Northwestern University. Michael is looking forward to joining a group tour of this Season Fair, given that his thinking in art writing has been dominated by the need and challenges for differing languages - conversations - for talking about art. This preoccupation, also called critical practice by artists, will be the core of the new experimental Detroit ISP.
Steven L. Bridges

Steven L. Bridges is a curator, art historian, and writer based in Lansing, Michigan. Currently, he holds the position of Senior Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University. Recently at the museum, Bridges launched the new Signature Commission Series, inviting internationally renowned artists to respond directly to the iconic architecture of the museum’s Zaha Hadid-designed building. An avid writer, Bridges has published in various outlets, including the CSPA Quarterly, Seismopolite, Art & the Public Sphere, Dispatch, Live Arts Almanac, and Art & Education Papers, as well as in exhibition catalogs and other online and print media. In 2017, he was named a curatorial fellow at the French American Cultural Exchange Foundation.
