Stiff Drinks, Soft Women
Season Office presents Stiff Drinks, Soft Women, a new body of work by KACEYKAL. The exhibition opens June 18, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. during Third Thursdays on Grand River and Warren. Season Office is located at 4892 Grand River and is open Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.
Stiff Drinks, Soft Women is a series of nine paintings in which KACEYKAL distills the female figure into geometric essentials: saturated planes of color, hard angles, and forms that hover between abstraction and embodiment. Rendered in acrylic gouache, acrylic, and pen on watercolor paper, each work measures 9 x 12 inches.
Across the series, the martini glass appears as a deadpan motif – small, precise, and immaculately rendered within compositions that otherwise resist easy legibility. Its polish cuts against the force of the surrounding geometry, sharpening the work’s decorative, symbolic, and slightly estranged register.
KACEYKAL cites personal memory as source material, but the paintings do not resolve into confession. The figures remain present without becoming fully legible. Whatever intimacy the work holds is structural, embedded in color, proportion, and the tension between the title’s softness and the paintings’ hard-edged refusal to sentimentalize it.

KACEYKAL
KACEYKAL (American, b. 1991) is a visual artist, illustrator, and painter. Developing what he calls Abstract Figuration, he seeks to create a distinct visual language through the arrangement and collage of abstract shapes and a highly attuned use of color. His work aims to capture the beauty of the human form while emphasizing expressiveness through dynamic poses and compositions.
Working from drawings made from memory, external references, and digital illustrations, KACEYKAL brings a deliberate awareness of composition, form, and visual structure to painting, shaping how he builds a perceived reality on canvas. His work often engages themes of intimacy, the presence of the female form, isolation, desire, and masculinity as a Black man, sometimes all at once. These shifting emotional conditions surface through closeness and distance, contact and its absence.
